Mother of four children studying in Academy for Working Children (AWC), Karkar
Having migrated from a village in Samastipur, Bihar in search of livelihood, the family’s living condition has been constantly improving. The children, in addition to academics, are learning dance, drawing, crafts, dramatics, etc., which has helped in instilling the right balance of skills and confidence in them. Gauri always tries to attend the parent-teacher meetings and the cultural programmes. The cultural event organised on the Republic Day, she says, was thoroughly enjoyed by her as it was good to see the efforts of her daughters who had been toiling for the practice for their performance on 26th January.
Gauri further adds that she feels fortunate, that she could come across the School and her children are studying here. She feels that issues like the cost of education, safety and the environment are always a matter of concern for the needy, when it comes to sending children to School. She says that she encourages neighbours and people at work to send their children to a School like Karkar. She also aspires to send her children to Government School for higher and better education.
